Re: National Series

I keep getting told that the Provincial series would not be affected. I see it this way. A few clubs have already said that if they were forced to go ABA and pay their fees, they would also be forced to close their doors. They are just too small to generate the required income, (their words). If any...

Re: National Series

Why MUST a Canadian National series include American riders? Wouldn't that actually be called an International series? Why can't the Canadian BMX Association govern Canadian riders, just like USA Cycling governs USA riders? Why MUST any Canadian track be American affiliated to run a National race th...

Re: National Series

If anyone is interested, there is a very lengthy discussion going on in Alberta circles about this and can be viewed on Shane Petersons facebook page. Contrary to popular belief, Alberta is giving this a very serious look from all sides, BC, Alberta, parents, riders, sport. There are more than two s...

Re: National Series

So to summarize I will cut and paste: the ABA National series must stay in tact the ABA isn't going away CCA buy in and to stop running two sanctions against one another (CCA is the bad guy?) some issues about cost structure when signing up with the ABA sacrifice to the size of the Alberta Provincia...

Re: National Series

Shane, you can post anything I post anywhere you want. My opinions are often expressed freely so go ahead. Just to add more ideas, instead of a CBA executive 1/2 Alberta CCA representation and 1/2 BC CCA representation, make it 1/2 CCA representation from wherever and 1/2 Canadian ABA representation...

Re: National Series

Maybe what we need to do is look to our neighbors to the south. They have two very successful sanctions (ABA/NBL) racing under one banner, USA Cycling. Maybe the Canadian BMX Association needs to do the same thing. It is already just an organizing body so why not organize Canadian BMX racing? Whethe...

Re: Airdrie affilliation

Seems to me I heard that Airdrie would only go ABA over John's dead body. Last I heard he was alive and kicking!! I can see Airdrie hosting one of the supposed ABA NAtionals that is rumoured to happen, but according to John David, that won't happen either.

Re: Red Deer UCI Race

We were hoping for somewhere around the 300 mark but our main focus was to give the pro class something worth travelling for and we are thankful to all those that did. We also appreciate the tips and ideas many of the riders gave us on tweaking the track in certain areas. You never know, we may be a...

UCI Pro Purse

Just in case the word hasn't got around yet, Red Deer BMX is guaranteeing a $10,000.00 pro purse for Saturday July 10 which is the UCI race being hosted there. Hopefully that should bring some talent out.

Re: Red Deer UCI Race

Just to clarify the availability of a shuttle service, in my meeting with the city manager, ways were brought up to eliminate the possible backlog of parking on the main road, Kerrywood Drive. I had assured her that we have always found a way to accommodate the number of vehicles and have never had ...

Red Deer UCI Race

We have been working with the City of Red Deer and we may have an opportunity to have a shuttle bus running for the UCI race in July. The parking area would be on the other side of the Taylor bridge at Bower Ponds near the baseball diamonds. This parking area would be about a 3 to 4 minute bike ride...

Re: New rules

Here is a cut and paste from the web site under Provincial Team policies: To be eligible for selection, athletes must be licensed members of the Alberta Bicycle Association, and must carry the designation Canadian on their licenses. Seems like there is already a policy in place which says nothing ab...
